Riva Nyri Precil

Riva Nyri Précil (born March 28, 1989, in Brooklyn) is a Haitian‑American multidisciplinary artist: singer, songwriter, Haitian folkloric dancer, choreographer, visual artist, jewelry designer, and author.

Raised in Haiti from age five, she trained with major cultural figures, studying dance, theater, sculpture, painting, and traditional Haitian arts under masters such as Jean‑Claude “Tiga” Garoute.
After returning to New York at age 15, she attended LaGuardia High School, then earned a BA in Music Therapy from Loyola University New Orleans.
In 2014, she committed herself to preserving Haitian culture, leading to her debut album Perle de Culture (2015), blending traditional Haitian music with soul, R&B, and jazz.

Now based in Brooklyn, she:
performs worldwide with her band Bohio Music
teaches Haitian dance through Tout Se Pa
creates visual art and jewelry (Altar Art, Wearable Altar)
writes children’s books
Her artistic mission is to elevate Haitian and Caribbean culture, promote wellness, and create spiritual and cultural bridges through music, dance, and art.
